Perioperative Clinical Trainer (Scrub/Scout – Ortho)
Private Hospital | Adelaide | Level 3 Pay | Mon–Fri**
If you’ve been waiting for a role that finally recognises your experience — not just your ability to “pick up an extra list” — this opportunity is worth a look.
A respected private hospital in Adelaide is recruiting a Perioperative Clinical Trainer to support scrub/scout staff, strengthen team capability and lift clinical standards across theatre.
This is a rare step up for senior scrub/scout nurses who enjoy teaching, mentoring and bringing calm, confidence and structure to the team.
It’s hands-on, respected, Monday–Friday and offers a clear pathway into education and theatre leadership.
Why experienced nurses choose this role
Level 3 pay (~$60–$64/hr depending on experience)
Monday–Friday — no late shifts, no nights, no weekends
A respected position with real influence in theatre
A blend of hands-on operating time + structured training responsibility
Supportive leadership and well-organised processes
Ability to shape onboarding, education and competency standards
The chance to step out of constant list pressure and into a role with purpose
A stable private hospital environment with a strong culture and safe staffing
This is the next step for nurses who want leadership without stepping entirely away from the clinical side.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting scrub/scout staff across theatre — especially ortho
Leading onboarding, skills development and competency assessments
Providing clinical guidance during lists and assisting with workflow
Identifying training needs and helping shape education plans
Strengthening safety, best practice and standards of care
Working closely with theatre leadership, CNMs and educators
Being the “go-to” support person that junior staff rely on and senior staff respect
Who this role suits
Registered Nurse (AHPRA)
5+ years perioperative experience
Strong orthopaedic scrub/scout capability (essential)
Nurses who naturally step up, support others and lead calmly
People who thrive in structured, professional environments
Nurses who want progression without losing the clinical side
Someone patient-centred, organised and confident in theatre
If you’ve ever thought, “I love theatre, but I want more than just turning over lists,” — this is exactly that role.
Why this role is rare
Trainer/educator roles in perioperative services don’t come up often, and almost never with Monday–Friday hours and Level 3 pay.
It’s ideal for someone who has outgrown the standard scrub/scout role and wants to move forward — not sideways.
